This Present Revival

Hello again from Pemba, Mozambique. I hope all of you enjoyed thanksgiving surrounded by family, friends, football and food. Thanksgiving here was absolutely amazing, we got together about 140 people who have become as close as family enjoyed wonderful food and actually played real american football. The football was a literal miracle as we’ve been here for 2 months and not even heard of an actual football.. and then one just shows up on thanksgiving day. I like to think it was a reminder to me of how much daddy-God loves us.

I wanted to e-mail you guys before the next month gets underway and I don’t have internet access. I graduate from Harvest in two weeks, fly to South Africa for a day, then Uganda for two days and finally I’m leading a team into the bush of Southern Sudan for 10 days of ministry. I was asked just this past week to be the leader of our Sudanese outreach team, so I would greatly appreciate your prayers. We will be in a very dangerous part of Sudan and Northern Uganda so a prayer covering is vital for our safety and ministry! I thank you in advance for your prayers and blessings during this time. I should be home on the 24th of December before transitioning to Atlanta around the 1st of January.

I have gleaned so much from this season of my life that it is hard to put into words what God has done. I want to offer you a brief word of encouragement about revival. I’ve heard that word my entire life and frankly got sick of the display of “revival” that I saw. For me, it
has always meant a week-long series of meetings where we all know the schedule of church services and hopefully a few people will come and get saved. It had become for me a watered-down idea, until I came here. I know that in the past there have been great revivals or moves of God, like the Welsh Revival, the Great Awakening, Azuza and so on. Times when God’s Spirit fell upon a people in such power that sinners were convicted and brought near to God and Christians experienced His power in just amazing ways. Yet I had never seen it. The Holy Spirit had even become limited to a little bit of tongues, maybe an interpretation here and there… but not power and no conviction. I longed to see a great move of God.. and He heard my cry.

Here in Mozambique is perhaps the greatest revival in Church history and it’s happening NOW. Since 1999, Iris Ministries has planted over 10,000 churches. Read that again… 10,000 churches. Millions have become believers who are filled with the Holy Spirit. Hundreds have been raised from the dead. The blind and deaf can’t stay blind and deaf, there have been thousands and thousands healed. Witchdoctors are going out of business and mosques are shutting down.

This is pure revival.

How did it happen? Two people decided to lay down their lives and love. That’s it. They prayed, they loved and God moved. Rolland and
Heidi have been stoned, shot at, gone hungry, crashed planes, caught diseases, healed, been taken advantage of, been stolen from… on and on. They just gave their lives. They somehow got ahold of the DNA of God and let it infiltrate their lives and Jesus saved an entire nation.

Why do I tell you all of this? Because I have this sneaking suspicion that God is interested in doing this everywhere. God is interested in
continual and amazing revival right where you live and I long for you to be apart of it. I long to see each of you lay down everything you
are for the least of these and stop for the one God has in front of you AND for the God who is your everything. I know it’s possible. I’ve
seen it with my own eyes.

I’m praying for you today. Praying that a hunger births in you for more. More than you’ve ever seen, more than you can imagine and more than this world has ever known. I pray for the courage to lay hands on the sick, the dead and the down and out. Courage to walk away from religious and critical spirits and just dive headfirst into the pool of God’s abounding love. Fruitfulness flows from Intimacy

It’s a wild ride. I hope to see you there.

Learning to get lower still,

Chris Hadsell
